About Coimbatore

Coimbatore also known as Kovai, is a major city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the Noyyal River and surrounded by the Western Ghats. Coimbatore is the second largest city in the state and the 16th largest urban agglomeration in India. It is one of the fastest growing tier-II cities in India and a major industrial hub in South India. It is often referred to as the "Manchester of South India" due to its cotton production and textile industries.

Coimbatore is well connected by Road, Air and Rail.Coimbatore International Airport caters to domestic flights to major Indian cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and international flights connect to Countries such as Sharjah of UAE, Srilanka and Singapore.Coimbatore Junction is well connected to all the major Indian cities and districts of Tamil Nadu.

In the rain shadow region of the Western ghats, Coimbatore enjoys a very pleasant climate all the year round, aided by the fresh breeze that flows through the 25 kms long Palakkad gap. Coimbatore District is very much known for its tourist attractions. There are a number of places to visit inand around Coimbatore. It is one of the biggest districts in Tamil Nadu with lots of tourist attractions, shopping centres as well as religious places.Coimbatore serves as an entry and exit point to the neighbouring State, Kerala and the ever-popular hill station, Udhagamandalam (Ooty). It is the landing point for those who wish to take the Mountain train that runs from Mettupalayam to Ooty.
